Why the Health Design Academy is supporting the Kenya Landless Project

Giving back and making an impact to improve the lives of others is one of our core values of the Health Design Academy, and this is one of the projects we are most definitely getting behind. Our aim is to raise £3000 by the end of July for this project, and we are donating the value of 10% of every new member's kit from now until the end of July to this project, as well as donating all of our class and bootcamp ticket sales to the project. The landless project has been in development for a few years now and is an exciting and innovative concept designed to give landless households an opportunity to own a piece of land and give them an important step up on the economic ladder.

In this programme, landless participants will be assigned a specific block on a commercial farm that they will be responsible to cultivate, grow and harvest Ylang Ylang and other essential oil crops.

These farmers will earn an income from these activities and a portion of this will be retained in a sort of "land savings account." After several years of accumulated savings, participants will receive a title deed to a piece of property in their name.

Once the farmer has legal ownership of their own property, they "graduate" from the project and open up space in the project for a new landless farmer to join. This then becomes a revolving initiative that has the potential to impact hundreds, maybe thousands of lives over the next few decades.

doTERRA Healing Hands has already contributed over $1 million USD so far. However, to get to the next phase of this project another $180,000 USD is required to install an irrigation water system. Once this is completed, the land will be ready for farmers to take over and begin their journey toward becoming a landowner.

How we are raising money for this project:

10% donation with every kit sold

When you set up a new wholesale account through the Health Design Academy, we take half of the affiliate commission we receive (20%) and donate that to the Healing Hands Foundation. For the months May-July, we will be directing this specifically to the Kenya Landless Project.

(NB. The other half of the commission goes to running our business.)

Plus, when you set up a new wholesale account through one of our affiliates and sharers - more than likely a friend or family member of yours - we donate all of the affiliate commission we (the Health Design Academy) make which is 10%, to the Healing Hands Foundation too, and again, this will be directed specifically to the Kenya Landless Project.

Class ticket sales

When you pay to attend one of our online or in-person classes, we will donate all of the profits from May to July to the Kenya Landless Project. This will be after any payment processing fees and event running costs (which are normally zero, but are occasionally minimal) are deducted.
